中央电视台纪录频道 是 2011年1月1号开播的一个全新频道，它通过卫星方式覆盖全球，每天24小时播出纪录片节目，向世界展示一个全新的、真实的活力的中国，每天首播节目4小时，全天24小时滚动播出。
中央电视台纪录频道英文版
英文版以英语广播为主，播放地区不仅在中国大陆境内，境外地区也可收看。此版本与中文版所播放的节目内容不同，英文版主要以全天24小时不间断播放央视所制播的纪录片。
在开播后，该频道每天播出3小时首播节目，经过两次改版后，改为每天4小时的首播节目。开播初期播出的纪录片为中文配音、英文字幕，之后开始播出以英语配音的纪录片。
