Harry Belafonte 亨瑞．贝拉方特 　原名哈罗德．乔治．小贝拉方特，1927年03月01日生于纽约市哈莱姆区。童年时代在牙买加他父亲的出生地过着贫困的生活。二战结束后，他勤工俭学在纽约戏剧进修所学习。1952年开始以唱民歌作为他的职业。1953年第一次上银幕，演出《光辉的道路》。同年，他还在百老汇演出《约翰．默里．安迪森的年曆》，获戏剧托尼奖。 　他于1987年获任命为儿童基金会的亲善大使。Belafonte先生在一生中一直公开反对不正义。他站在美国境内捍卫人权斗争的前列，也是“艺术家联合援助非洲协会”的一位核心人士，并曾参加演唱1986年那首名为“我们是世界”的歌。Belafonte先生多年来一直支持儿童基金会的各项努力，组织了义演音乐会和筹款活动并参加演出，走访各国并为儿童大声疾呼。他向美国国会做了各种工作，力图说明当局制订各项惠及儿童的政策，这些努力对于儿童基金会和世界各地儿童的事业来说十分重要。 　Harry Belafonte，人称“卡利普索歌曲之王”，是最成功的美籍非裔音乐明星之一，其吸收了民谣、爵士和世界打击节奏音乐的精髓，在主流音乐方面取得了成功，其受到欢迎的程度在黑人民权运动之前绝无仅有，而且他也是民权运动的先锋，2000年获得格莱美终身成就奖。

四兄弟合唱团组建于1958年，成员是华盛顿大学的4名学生，Bob Flick、Michael Kirkland、John Paine和Dick Foley。他们在教友社团里结识并开始合唱生涯。
1959年“四兄弟”与哥伦比亚唱片公司签约，并迅速以一首《绿土》(GREEN FIELD)打入排行榜。
1961至1963年期间，他们在300多所大学里进行了巡迴演出，获得了很高的声誉。“四兄弟”合唱团也经常在一些The Ed Sullivan Show、The Pat Boone Chevy Showroom、Mitch Miller's Singalong等电视秀上露面。
1997年，四兄弟在日本的演出结束后发行了一张双唱片集《东京盒带》，里面不光收录了像《绿袖子》，《500里》，《再见牙买加》这样的成名曲，还收录了一些爱尔兰歌谣和民谣复兴时代的歌曲。
